Why Most Garage Coatings Peel and Ours Don't
Store-bought kits and quick "garage paint" jobs often lift within months, especially when hot tyres sit on them during a San Antonio summer. The difference comes down to preparation and materials.

|---|---|---|
| Surface prep | Diamond grinding with dust control | Acid etch or none |
| Crack repair | Cracks and pits filled first | Usually skipped |
| Coating | Multi-coat professional system | Thin single coat |
| Hot-tyre resistance | Built to resist lifting | Prone to peeling |
| Protective topcoat | Durable clear topcoat | Rarely included |
| Lifespan | Many years | Often months |

Garage Floor Epoxy FAQs
Will hot tyres damage my epoxy garage floor?
Hot tyre pickup is the most common reason DIY garage coatings fail. Our floors are installed over mechanically ground concrete with a professional multi-coat system and topcoat, which is designed to resist lifting, even in San Antonio summers.
How soon can I park in my garage?
You can usually walk on the floor after about a day. Vehicles need to wait until the coating is fully cured, which typically takes several days depending on the product and temperature. We'll give you an exact date before we leave.
Is an epoxy garage floor slippery when wet?
A smooth, high-gloss coating can be slippery with wet tyres. A flake epoxy finish adds natural texture, and we can also add a slip-resistant additive to the topcoat for extra grip.
Will the floor fade or yellow if my garage door is open?
Some epoxies can yellow with direct sunlight over time. We finish garage floors with a UV-stable topcoat that helps protect the colour, even in areas near an open door.
Can you coat over old garage paint or a peeling coating?
Old paint and failing coatings need to come off first. We grind them away down to sound concrete, so your new floor bonds directly to the slab and doesn't inherit the old coating's problems.
What happens to the cracks and control joints in my garage?
Cracks and pits are filled and ground smooth before coating. Control joints can be filled for a smoother look or left open where the slab needs room to move, and we'll explain the best option for your floor.
